Details

NOTE: You MUST register through this link to get a spot on the bus headed for Albany on Wednesday morning. Melissa, a food+tech member, is organizing the group so be sure to grab a spot soon if you plan to go. And don't forget to use #foodtech to send reports from the field!

Here's the information from American Farmland Trust (http://newyork.farmland.org/farmland-protection/join-the-rush-to-register-no-farms-no-food-rally-march-13-2013-albany-2) about Wednesday's rally:

The No Farms No Food Rally (http://newyork.farmland.org/no-farms-no-food) is only one week away and it’s not too late to register (https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07e6zxckz397328dae&oseq=&c=&ch).

New York State has lost nearly 4,500 farms to real estate development since the early 1980s (http://newyork.farmland.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/AFT-2013-2014-Executive-Budget-Testimony-2-4-13-Final.pdf). This has got to stop. Join us at the No Farms No Food Rally March 13 in Albany and tell Governor Cuomo and our state legislators how much you care about local farms and food. Check out our state budget and policy priorities (http://newyork.farmland.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/2013-Rally-Priorities-9.pdf). Pack a brown bag lunch made with New York State grown food. Register (https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07e6zxckz397328dae&oseq=&c=&ch=online) to join the No Farms No Food Rally March 13!

Get on the Bus!

There’s still room on the bus roundtrip from Union Square in NYC to Albany ($20 roundtrip, leaving at 7am and returning around 7pm) and, thanks to generous support from Slow Food NYC (http://www.slowfoodnyc.org/) and Food Systems NYC (http://www.foodsystemsnyc.org/), we are able to offer 10 need-based bus scholarships for people taking the trip from Manhattan! For more information on the No Farms No Food Rally and the bus scholarship, contact us at newyork@farmland.org or call (518) 581-0078.

Special thanks to Melissa Danielle (http://melissadanielle.com/), who is helping organize the NYC bus. We couldn’t do it without you!
