The holiday season is upon us and our next meetup is right around the corner.
Come kick off the holiday season with a fabulous afternoon of wreath making, great food, wine and the general spreading of good will and gratitude. The holidays are a time for coming together and the wreath has long been a symbol for unity. Let's celebrate the joy of the season with a festive display of food, drink and making beautiful wreaths!
The festivities will all take place at Jeans art studio located on their family farm in beautiful Corralitos. Jean Thomas will guide us in how to make a fresh wreath using a plethora of cut greenery, fresh & dried flowers, pinecones... you name it, pretty much anything you can think of can be fashioned into a spectacular wreath that is easy for anyone to make. This does not require any special skills or talents and is a great social activity that both kids and adults can do together. Jean provides all the wreath making materials and tools. You are welcome to bring your own foraged items from your gardens and surrounding areas as well. I made my very first wreath last week and brought bay leaves, lichen covered sticks and rose hips… which worked out great.
Bring a dish to share, dessert or appetizer for the pot luck. I'll supply the plates, eating utensils, cups and non-alcoholic beverages. Feel free to bring a bottle of wine to share with the group!
A bit of history about their farm:
Thomas Farm has been growing organic flowers and produce in the Santa Cruz county since 1971. The farm is known for its unique rich history in the organic farming movement on the Central Coast as well as for the diversity of crops it grows.
Organic was a novel concept back when Jean & Jerry began farming. Though interest was expressed in their organically grown crops, it was difficult to find places to sell them. Jerry envisioned the farmers market as an ideal way to get fresh produce and flowers directly to potential customers. Eventually, he and five other organic growers founded CCOF. They also started the first farmers market in Santa Cruz County, and the Live Oak Market.
Due to the limitations of tools and space, we are limiting the number of participants to 15 people. The cost is $35.00 per person. Jean has been making wreaths for over 20 years and I can guarantee that you will never find a wreath as gorgeous as the one you can make at Thomas Farm.
