Hello F1 Fans,
With the first race of the 2017 European season behind us, up next is the Monaco Grand Prix; the most glamorous, thrilling and unlike any other race on the calendar. Tucked away on the picturesque Cote d’Azur, the Principality’s tortuous, barrier-lined streets provide some of the greatest challenges on the F1 calendar; it’s the race that every driver wants to win.
Championship Standing: Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel still leads the driver's championship with 104 points followed by Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas with 98 and 63 points respectively. On the constructor front, Mercedes is still ahead with 161 points, followed by Ferrari and Red Bull with 153 and 72 points respectively.
The Track: The 3.34 km Monaco street circuit, shortest on the calendar, is unique in many aspects: (almost) non-existent run-off areas, slowest average speed of the year (with a race distance of about 260.3 km), extremely bumpy and narrow. While the teams bring the highest possible level of downforce, mechanical grip and drivability are what make the difference for a quick lap. Given that overtaking is almost impossible, it goes without saying that the qualifying session is the most important of the year. Rain or a safety car would have a large impact on the race result.
Tire allocation: Pirelli will allocate the ultrasoft purple, supersoft red and soft yellow compounds.
Talking points: Can Sebastian Vettel continue to lead the championship with another win? Or can Lewis Hamilton take over the championship lead with back-to-back wins? Can Red Bull achieve their first victory of the year?
Race will start at 08:00 AM EDT with the pre-race starting at 07:30 AM EDT. It's going to be another exciting race.
We hope to see you all!
