New Meetup: Night Paddle at Lover's Key

Announcing a new Meetup for The Fort Myers Area Kayaking Group!

What: Night Paddle at Lover's Key

When: Saturday, May 29,[masked]:00 PM

Big Hickory Island Preserve
Hickory Blvd Marker is incorrect - entrance is on CR 865 at the south end of bridge between south end of Lovers Key and north end of Big Hick
Bonita Springs, FL 34134

The full moon is May 27 so it will still be pretty bright out for a relaxing night paddle. Depending on the water conditions we can either paddle in to the gulf or the back bay.

We will be launching from the Big Hickory Island Preserve in the New Pass. The entrance is on the west side of CR 865 at the south end of the bridge between the south end of Lovers Key and north end of Big Hickory Island.

This is rated a beginning to intermediate paddle: ?Intermediate? involves exposure to open water subject to moderate currents, tides and wind. Landing areas may be unavailable for up to three miles. Moderate hazards may exist such as depth, bottom conditions and unrestricted motorboat
traffic. One never know until the day of the paddle what kind of conditions we will have. If we go into the back bay, it would be pretty calm.
Plan on about a 3 hour tour...a three hour tour! Bring snacks, bug spray, water, PFD.
Every boat must have a loud whistle to alert others of a problem. The only required lighting for kayaks is to have a flashlight to alert boaters of your location.

As always, bring a great attitude and a smile!
Directions and contact info sent the day before.
