As a lead-up to Agritecture Xchange - www.agritecture.com/xchange - we will be hosting a series of mini-talks on topics that challenge our presumptions.
For our first talk, Luuk Graamans of The Netherlands will present a performance assessment of plant factories (vertical farms) compared with traditional greenhouses, analyzing resource usage in lettuce production.
Luuk is a building engineer enthusiastic about investigating and designing resilient cities of the future through an interdisciplinary approach. The current focus of his work is the interface of building engineering and agriculture through a PhD position at TU Delft and Wageningen UR. His ultimate goal is to precisely quantify the resource requirement of plant factories and increase their performance through building design.
