Our public services are being transformed by big data as analytics enable governments to work more efficiently and better serve citizens.
Data innovation in the police includes using social media data to gather information on and even forecast criminal activity. Similarly, in healthcare, data analysis is driving progress by making it easier to identify those patients most at risk of different health problems.
At our next meetup organised with the support of TLA DataTech (http://tladatatech.com), data expert, Waseem Ali (https://www.linkedin.com/in/waseem-ali-61676637), and data scientist, Nicolas Gakrelidz (https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicolasgakrelidz), will be sharing two concrete examples that demonstrate the rise of data and its uses within the public sector.
"Analysing healthcare data" presented by Waseem Ali
Data and Healthcare are a great match. Come and hear how Waseem, Co-Founder and Director of Cloudstream Partners (http://www.cloudstreampartners.com/), can use simple analytics in Tableau to analyse NHS datasets.
"Predicting London crime rates using machine learning" presented by Nicolas Gakrelidz
In this use case, Nicolas, a senior data scientist at Dataiku (http://www.dataiku.com/), uses open source data from the UK police portal and employs machine learning techniques in Dataiku Data Science Studio to predict the number and even types of crimes being committed in Greater London.
As anyone who has attended our meetups before will testify, you can expect excellent talks, discussion, and complimentary pizza and beer for everyone!
