When I was a child, my siblings, cousins, and I spent the whole summer outside in the backyard and at the lake. We rode our bikes all over town. Even when it rained, we splashed in the puddles, and at night we played hide-and-seek and caught fireflies. We were very lucky. Too many children today do not have that freedom, and they suffer for it. Unsupervised play is essential for healthy childhood development. How can we support it?
