In our next Data Science Meet-up session we welcome Brad Keogh! Brad will present about projects he has worked on using hospital data in UK. More details below! As usually, doors open at 18.45 at Cowork!
After finishing his PhD in experimental fluid mechanics of renewable energy devices Brad has held research posts for the last 5 years at the University of Southampton, UK, where he applies data science techniques to hospital data of the National Health Service (NHS). In this talk he will describe several projects he has worked on, developing his skills as a data scientist: from making simple visualisations to developing machine learning models to aid hospital managers with decision making. These projects cover a range of health conditions and their treatment but all focus on using data science to make evidence based changes within the NHS. The various successes and failures in the uptake of these projects will demonstrate that working as a data scientist with other domain specialists can sometimes be difficult. He will provide some advice, from his experience, how to work successfully in such environments. The talk is suitable for a wide audience of data scientists.
