3 days hiking around the emblematic pyramid-shaped Matterhorn! This hut-to-hut hike in the mountain paradise surrounding Zermatt leads over alpine forests and meadows, up into the high alpine landscape, and finishes in the renowned town of Zermatt.

This trip is led by Aurelie Bourquin, mountain leader.

What's the plan?

Day 1: Randa - Suspension bridge - Täschalp
Meet your guide at Randa train station at 10:00 and walk through the beautiful larch forest to the suspension bridge. The Charles Kuonen bridge, with its length of almost 500 meters, is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the Alps. We then continue on the Europaweg to Täschalp. Some consider the Europaweg between Grächen and Zermatt to be the most beautiful hike in the Alps. The view of the mountain panorama including the Matterhorn has made the Europaweg known worldwide. The towns of St. Niklaus, Grächen, Randa, Täsch and Zermatt used this breathtaking and untouched nature to create the Europaweg in 1997. It leads from Grächen via Gasenried to Herbriggen, from there up to the Europahütte in Randa, on to the Täschalp and finally to Zermatt. We will spend the evening and night at Täschlalp.
Technical info: 15km - 1’500m ascent - 550m descent - 7h walking

Day 2: Täschalp - Europaweg Sunnegga - Ze Seewjinu
From the Täschalp we continue on our Europaweg to Sunnegga, over the famous Stellisee and Grindjisee, two stunning lakes that everyone has already seen on pictures with the reflection of the Matterhorn, and finally Grünsee. The most motivated can still swim in the Grünsee and the others can slowly make their way to Ze Seewjinu for an aperitif. Kurt and Steffi will spoil us in the evening.
Technical info: 15km - 700m ascent - 600m descent - 6h walking

Day 3: Ze Seewjinu - Lost Valley - Zermatt
Ze Seewjinu is where the Lost Valley starts, our destination today. The Lost Valley, a small, idyllic alluvial plain in the Findel valley above Zermatt. Nestled between the left moraine of the Findel Glacier and the steep northern slopes of the Stockhorn, it is an absolutely magical place. In the valley itself, we can enjoy total tranquility and a wonderful view of the Matterhorn. Aurelie will give you an insight into the geological, glaciological and historical characteristics of the Matterhorn area. After spending some time in this magical valley, we walk back through a beautiful larch forest to Riffelalp, where we take the small Gornergratbahn to Zermatt.
Technical info: 13km - 650m ascent - 700m descent - 6h walking

Explore the Alps with the exciting sport of via ferrata. Developed in the early 1900’s as a way for the military to travel through the rugged Alps; today it has become a favorite activity for those seeking high adventure. Climbing routes can be found throughout the Alps and they offer fantastic views with a physical challenge.

Via ferrata routes are made safe with modern equipment, techniques and climbing guides. The route difficulty is expressed using ratings K1-K5, with low numbers easier and higher numbers more difficult.

Climbers are attached to a fixed cable that follows the route using lanyards and carabiners. This prevents the chance for a catastrophic fall. The cable and other fixtures, such as iron rungs (stemples), pegs, carved steps, and ladders and bridges, provide both footings and handholds. These fabricated holds make it possible to safely climb with your own strength on rocky ridges and faces not normally accessible.

Join us for a day of high-alpine fun that will challenge your strength and nerves, and will reward you with a feeling of elation and accomplishment.

This event is led by Antoine Chaboudez, climbing instructor.

What's the plan?
The group will meet at Engelberg, Brunnibahn train station at 09:00. We will check and prepare our equipment before hiking up or taking the cable car to Brunnihütte (depending on the motivation of the group).
Just minutes from the hut start two Via Ferrata routes. The first route is at K1/K2 level and good for warming up and learning how Via Ferrata works. The second route is level K3/K4 and is more challenging, requiring more upper body strength. The easy access to these two routes makes them perfect for our arrival day. After a day of Via Ferrata adventures, we’ll come together for dinner and drinks at the hut and stay overnight.

The following day after breakfast for those who are motivated and fit, we can attempt the most challenging Via Ferrata route which includes a long hike with more elevation. An early start would be required. After another full day of adventures, we can either hike or take the chairlift/cable car back down to the valley.

Requirements
No prior via ferrata or climbing experience is needed. However, participants should be confident in their physical ability, have no fear of heights and be willing to challenge themselves.

Insurance
It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).

Immerse yourself into the legends of the Schwarzsee with this 2-day hike in the gorgeous Fribourg Prealps , walking from valley to valley and sleeping in a mountain hut.
This trip is led by Celine Kahn, mountain leader.

What’s the plan?

Day 1: Riggisalp – Fochsenflue – St Antoni Brecca
We meet at Schwarzsee at 10:00. From there, we take the chairlift to Riggisalp to keep as much energy as possible for the summit later in the day!
We start the weekend with a visit to Alphütte Riggisalp, a charming alpine hut that makes local cheese all summer. Possibility to see the cheese making process and buy cheese (Gruyère, Vacherin Fribourgeois and Mutschli).
Once we’re done at the hut, we start our hike through beautiful pastures in the Euschel valley and make our way up to the Fochsenflue at nearly 2’000m, which offers a stunning 360° panorama of the Schwarzsee on one side, the Gastlosen on the other side and the Jura range in the background. From there, we make our way down to the charming hut Brecca in the Brecca gorge, where we have dinner and spend the night.
Technical information: 14km – 900m ascent – 800m descent

Day 2: St Antoni Brecca – Col du Chamois – Schwarzsee
After an energising breakfast at Brecca hut, we start the day with a long and gentle climb on a beautiful balcony trail above the Brecca gorge, all the way to Col du Chamois, a pass located at nearly 1’900m. There we are, in another valley, slowly making our way back down to the mystical Schwarzsee where we end our weekend. Hike & Navigation course - Learn to read a map and use a compass

---
With today's technology, it has become so easy to spend time in the mountains without any navigation skills. All the apps and modern tools that now exist are amazing and it would be a shame not to use them, however, it's also really important to be able to be in the mountains without them.

During this hike by the famous and stunning Rochers de Naye, the focus will be on learning or getting a refresher about how to use basic navigation tools: map, compass, features around us...

What's the plan?
We will meet at 08:45 at Montbovon station. The focus of the day will be to improve your navigation skills. For that, the day will be split into stages, alternating walking times and various activities.
Stage 1: Introduction of the navigation tools
Learn to read the map with its main features and legend, plan our itinerary, understand the compass.

Stage 2: Where am I?
Locate yourself on the map using features around you.

Stage 3: What is around me?
Knowing where you are on the map, identify the summits and other features around you using your map and compass. Learn to read your surrounding landscape.

Stage 4: Find your way without visibility
Using our compass and azimuth bearings, we will play some games to practice having to move on a terrain without any visibility (snow, fog...).
