By profession, I have a master's degree in social work. Since my retirement in 2010, my interest in teaching English as a Second Language led me to apply and to complete a certificate program at Concordia University in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) in the spring of 2015. It has provided me with a solid foundation to assist those whose mother tongue is not English to speak the language more confidently and fluently.
The purpose of this group is to give people whose first language is not English an opportunity to speak English in a relaxed, informal environment. This group is for people who have intermediate English language skills but would like to improve their ability to speak with more ease through interesting conversation. At the same time participants will improve their grammar. Role play scenarios from daily life, games, and other activities to stimulate participation and enhance your English language skills will be provided.
There is one group that meets on Fridays mornings from 9:30-11:30 a.m . Registration is required through the Meetup site.. Each 2 hour session costs $15.00 which includes refreshments, my preparation time, and handouts. The fee helps to offset monthly fees.
The group meets in my apartment in Westmount, adjacent to downtown. The most convenient bus routes are #24, 138 and 104. The closest metro stations are Vendome or Atwater.
