The Heart of Memoir Writing Workshop
October 14—20, 2012
·         Find the heart in your life story, learn some technique, craft your writing, and get a responsive audience. And do it in the South of France in October—when tourists are few, the wine is being harvested and the sun is still shining.
·         This week-long writing workshop offers intellectual and aesthetic inspiration in one of France’s most remote and romantic places. You will enjoy morning workshops and afternoon excursions to experience, for example, vineyards and wineries during harvest and an early medieval chateau to view the archaeology underway.
Instructor: Since recently retiring from tenured community college teaching Kathryn Abajian offers narrative nonfiction workshops featuring travel, food and memoir essay writing in Northern and Southern California, Abruzzo, Italy (ongoing since 2009), and now in France.
Where: In the medieval village of Sommières, in the Languedoc Region of France.
Price: The registration fee of $2,950 includes minivan transport from Montpellier to Sommières and return, five days of workshop instruction and materials, six nights single occupancy accommodations at l’Auberge du Pont Romain, full daily breakfast, afternoon activities and excursions, and all evening meals. Enroll early as The Heart of Memoir workshops fill quickly.
Info: For full details, visit www.FranceinOtherWords.com. Get a flavor for Kathryn’s teaching on her blog,~the art in the heart.
