Hello members,

Trust you are having a good holiday that can, no doubt, bring a welome break from all the studying most of us have been doing.

I had some updates this week but please refer to the meetup group's front page for them as, instead, i have some news to share that may interest most of you.

From Sunday, January 23 to Thursday, January 27,Kaplan is hosting a series of events that include 4 online events and one networking event - the latter taking place at multiple locations in the Bay area. Best of all, these events are all FREE. The events touch across the various aspects of an application that students consider when applying to business school ranging from choosing a school to perfecting your resume. I have listed the topic of each event and date below but please scroll down if you would like to get the entire details behind each event.

Note that aside from the networking event, all the series will be held online via Kaplan's 'anywhere' classroom at the following dates:

Business School ? Why and Where to Go (live online, Sunday 1/23 6pm)

The Perfect B School Application (live online, Monday 1/24 6pm)

Assessing (and Improving) your Resume (live online, Tuesday 1/25 6pm)

100 Hours: a GMAT Study Plan (live online, Wednesday 1/26 6pm)

First Annual MBA Night (hosted in 20+ cities on the evening of Thursday 1/27 5pm) - For us in the bay, those locations are Financial Disctrict, San Francisco and Santana Row , San Jose. The exact place where the events will be held have not been confirmed yet; i will post them as soon as I have an update.

Details for each event:

Business School ? Why and Where to Go (live online, Sunday 1/23 6pm)

In this seminar, we?ll kick off the program and address the following topics: the traditional (and less traditional) reasons to pursue the degree; full-time vs. part-time vs. EMBA; the ROI and financing of an MBA; the elements of the application; assessing your competitiveness as a candidate; and how to identify your target schools.

The Perfect B School Application (live online, Monday 1/24 6pm)

Your application is a balanced portfolio of academic and work experience, your GMAT score, application essays, recommendations, and your networking and research. This session will lay out a step-by-step plan to prepare each part in the coming months. You?ll walk away with a concrete timeline that you can import into your calendar of choice.

Assessing (and Improving) your Resume (live online, Tuesday 1/25 6pm)

Some parts of your application can be changed and some can?t. Your resume ? both the document itself and the experience it reflects ? can?t be changed overnight, but it?s not set in stone. You?ll walk away from this session with an improved resume and an idea of areas that need to be addressed and how.

100 Hours: a GMAT Study Plan (live online, Wednesday 1/26 6pm)

The average 600+ and 700+ scorer prepares 100 hours for the GMAT. So, at 2 hours per day, you should plan for 2 to 3 months of preparation for the test. In this seminar, we?ll introduce the test and you?ll walk away with a specific outline for GMAT preparation and links to various resources.

First Annual MBA Night (hosted in 20+ cities on the evening Thursday of 1/27 5pm)

The First Annual MBA Night will be an opportunity for you to meet informally with alumni of MBA programs (NYU, Texas, Babson College, Boston University, Cornell University (Johnson), Emory University (Goizueta), Georgetown University and many more). You?ll get a feel for different programs, get your questions answered, and start building what business school is known for ? a strong network with whom you can have a great time. (Hosted in San Francisco Financial District and San Jose, Santana Row)
