• CANCELED: Sunday 4:15 pm, Full Lotus Yoga, Richard M. Certified Teacher
Every Sunday & Wednesday we offer a totally free yoga class that provides a synthesis of pranayama (breathing practice), vinyasa flow, deep stretching, and long relaxation (yoga nidra). And on Tuesdays we offer a free Kundalini yoga class. The Sunday yoga class is 90 minutes. You do not have to stay past the yoga class. The yoga class is followed by free Satsang which includes guided meditation, group chanting, and teachings from the yoga texts. This event is open to all levels and feel free to come to any or all of it. We have mats and props available in the studio. On the last Sunday of each month, instead of Satsang, we have free community Kirtan (yoga chanting in a call and response format) followed by community dinner provided by Carioca Bowls, which we do ask for donations to support. During the week we ask for donations for classes, but on both Sunday & Wednesday we offer one totally free class. We do not accept donations for yoga classes for either of those two classes. If you really want to donate, then please do so at any of our other classes. Thanks for your understanding and support. Yoga classes are held in a room specially built and designed for yoga classes. Enter the restaurant from the east side and then you will see the door with the shoes in front of it that leads to the yoga studio. Please be mindful and do not just show up whenever and be here on time or a little early. Thank you! Peace and Love, Richard This teacher's intensity rating is 2 out of 3. Richard is a certified yoga instructor with 500 hours from Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in the Himalayas in India and 200 hours from Babajis Kriya Yoga Ashram in Montreal.

We are allowed 5 parking spots in the church parking lot. There is street parking available. Be forewarned, some nearby store parking lots do tow cars parked in their lot. Please Bring: 1. Yoga mat for yourself. We have some donated mats for class use. 2. Reusable water bottle for yourself Optional: yoga strap to facilitate some stretching exercises, an old or used belt often works Optional: yoga blocks to support or make easier some poses Optional: any yoga gear that you find helpful Optional: extra yoga mat for a guest or visitor Some tidbits about Kundalini Yoga: -Everyone can do it - there is no need to bend like a pretzel, or be super strong/athletic. And each person has a unique experience. -The yoga sets (called "Kriyas") have been pre-written and handed down for thousands of years. -Each Kriya is a unique blend of dynamic postures, often layered with specific breathing patterns, sound vibration, eye focus points, hand positions, and intentions. -Many of the exercises work directly on the central nervous systems and endocrine systems through breath work and movement. -The purpose of the exercises are to prepare the body/mind to sit for meditation, thus each set is paired with a short meditation. -Kundalini yoga is a "Raj Yoga," or the "King of Yoga's," as it combines multiple branches of yoga into one powerful practice. - It is a "Yoga of the Householder" - meaning many of the exercises can be done quickly, anywhere, anytime, to achieve a large purpose. • Noon Hatha Yoga (By Donation) w/ Will, Certified Teacher @ Full Lotus Yoga PDX
    • What we'll do Hatha Yoga is an ancient practice of mindfulness in movement. As we put the body in various positions (inside or outside of a yoga class) our body will develop muscle memory of those particular positions, especially if we do it over and over again. A sedimentary lifestyle will only age your body faster as it will end up stiffening up into a limited set of motions that you do all the time. With Hatha Yoga, you are stretching all the tissues properly, slowing down the aging and atrophy of connective tissues throughout the body. As you practice Hatha, you are also strengthening your mind's capacity to be still, since you are using your mind to hold still the body in these various postures. So take charge of your body now and discover the range of motion you were always meant to have. This class runs just over an hour and will involve a combination of breathing technique (pranayama) and physical exercise (hatha yoga). All levels are welcome to participate. This instructor's intensity rating is a 2/3. Peace and Love, -Will • What to bring Please bring a water bottle, mat, and anything you need for practice. This space also provides bolsters, blankets, mats, blocks and straps and there is a water dispenser with filtered water, too. • Important to know In general, every class is held with the intention that ANY body walking into the studio can participate and benefit from the yogic posturing and breathing. This class is offered on a $5-15 donation basis but that does not mean you have to have a cash donation every time; feel free to attend! Thank you.
