This night we hope to present a variety of stories from expats living and working in Amsterdam and the Netherlands. Because of this international aspect, the primary language this evening will be English.

We want to offer a stage to expats and their experiences that evening. How did they end up here? What did they ran into when they arrived in the Netherlands and how did they finally find their way around. Stories about cultural clashes, strange situations, strange habits or beautiful characteristics of Dutch people, Amsterdammers.

We’re working to complete the program, but can announce the following speakers:

Sophie Knight - She is an English freelance copywriter, who lived and worked in Japan as well.
“I will explain about what it's like to work in Japan, focussing on the differences between the working culture there and here in the Netherlands. I'll cover a bit about working hours, customs, rituals and hierarchy vs. flat organisational relationships”, she promises.

Angela Fusaro - Originally from Italy, with a background in HR and career coaching, she now works as a specialized coach for mothers and their return to work, and for companies that need to schedule pregnancies.

In a fun, light and interactive way, Angela will share her journey of becoming a mother in The Netherlands and starting her own business as a non-Dutch native. From the different childcare options to the local tax system and more. You will learn about the challenges, the opportunities, the questions and the discoveries Angela made along the way while balancing motherhood and a business somewhere away from her home country.

Do you have a quick and typical story about your landing in the Netherlands? Come by and tell us!

Venue opens at 19:00, start of the program at 19:30.
