Welcome to Friendly Vegans SE Michigan,

This group is for vegans, vegetarians, veg-curious, and their supportive friends and family members living near SE Michigan.

This group is not for the "Vegan Police." You can be a member of the vegan police or you can be a pragmatic results-oriented activist. We strive to meet people where they are in their journey towards a plant-based diet, vegan-lifestyle, reduced carbon footprint, healthy lifestyle, etc. and praise people for their accomplishments!

We look forward to seeing you at one of our future events. We offer you the opportunity to sample plant-based recipes/dishes and/or learn about veganism. Please be prompt to events so we can start on time.

To Healthy, Compassionate, and Sustainable Eating + Friendship!

Many kind regards,
-Your organizers
**General Meet-up Rules**
Prior to attending RSVP. If you later find you cannot attend please change your RSVP. Please be prompt to events so we can start on time.
We ask that at events you refrain from eating animal products, including meat, seafood, fish, dairy, and eggs.
Any distribution of literature or advertising (business cards, flyers), as well as any form of entertainment, needs prior approval from the host.
Safe communication, safe space. Everyone is on their own "vegan" journey so..... We will assume the best intentions on the part of our fellow members. We will speak for ourselves, not as representatives of any group, and not ask others to represent, defend, or explain an entire group of people. We will strive to make “I” statements, rather than “we” or “you” statements. We will seek to clarify misunderstandings productively. We will express our different viewpoints in a thoughtful manner and without an insulting spirit. We may respectfully disagree with others, but we will resist the urge to convert them to our way of thinking. We will treat our conversational partners as we would want to be treated. We will greet questions with a moment of silence to give everyone ample time to formulate a thoughtful response. We appreciate the spirit and passion of our community as it is reflected in diverse opinions.
**General Potluck Rules** Rules may vary slightly depending on host/ venue preference.
Arrive at the potluck on time. Prior to attending RSVP. If you later find you cannot attend please change your RSVP.
Bring your own plate, silverware, and cup - disposables are not kind to the Earth.
Your dish must be large enough to adequately serve 8 people. If you are a family or a couple (2 adults) you will be required to supply two dishes that serve 8 each or one dish that serves 16. If you only bring one dish for a family or couple, you will be asked to donate $10.00 for your party to participate in the meal. Children age 12 and under do not need to provide food.
Do not bring chips, crackers, bread or a beverage as your ONLY contribution to the potluck. Everyone is coming for a meal so please contribute something considered a “meal” item and not a “snack.”
If you are bringing hot/warm food, please have it already cooked and/or warmed before arriving. The oven, stove and microwave will not be available for guests. We don’t want anyone harmed in the making of a potluck . Bring hot soups and stews in a crock-pot type warming unit you can plug in when you get to the potluck. If you don’t have a crock-pot. Bring your own serving utensils.
If anyone suspects that a food item brought in is not vegan, let the host know. Many people attending are new and still learning. Any food item containing animal products will be removed and placed away from guests and will not be served.
If you bring a food item that needs to be divided into serving portions (cake, pie, lasagna, etc.), have it already cut or do so right away upon arriving.
Food Safety. Please use fresh ingredients and clean equipment when preparing your potluck dish at home.
If the finished product isn’t something you would enjoy eating – don’t bring it to the potluck. Do not bring your “leftovers”.
Bring your own vegan beverage of choice.
