Announcing a new Meetup for West Valley Activities Group!

What: Shaw Butte Summit Hike - Beginning / Moderate

North Mountain Visitor Center

Shaw Butte Summit Trail - We will meet at the North Mountain Visitors Center. (follow parking lot in and park on the left or near the visitors center)

Hike begins PROMPTLY at start time posted

Approx 2 miles to the summit (4 miles round trip), it's an uneven trail with a steady incline. Takes approx
1-2 hours for us to hike at a leisurely pace. We will make a round trip (down the same path we took up). It is considered a moderate trail.

Dogs Welcome

Carpoolers should arrive 5-10 minutes prior to start time. Carpoolers that have hiked with group before - carpool leaves my house at 615 sharp. If you'd like to carpool from the West Valley area (near Dysart/I10) contact me for info.

Make sure to have at least 2 liters of water and a snack if needed

Recommended: hat, sun screen, Camera

General Hiking Etiquette
Uphill hikers have the ride of way / down hill hikers should yield to up hill hikers
Hikers should be on the right side of the trail (narrow path's = single file)
Passing someone - say 'on your left' or announce yourself when approaching others from behind
Stay on the trail pathway
If you cannot finish or need to leave / always talk to the hike leader before you leave
