View 100 Masterworks at the WAG

Have you ever wanted to go see paintings of Rembrandt, Monet, Renoir, and Vincent Van Gogh to name but a few?

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is celebrating their 100th birthday by bringing them in for us to view. What a great opportunity.

I remember thinking I would probably never get to see the work of a great master except in a book. Well now you can.

This does not happen every day in life and I think it is a chance I cannot pass up. Cost is $22 per person, but to travel to see the work of art you would pay much more.

The detail and visual depth from such artists is to be appreciated and explored. Let's check it out together.

Drop In Tour starts at 2pm

Come in a little early and buy your ticket.

We will meet for 1:30pm at entrance, and head up for 1:45pm.

Parking across the street in the Bay Parkade, behind the art gallery, or if you can find a side street, but that is really limited.

No $2 Meet up fee.

Fabulous exhibition! I wasn't disappointed that we didn't have a tour guide, it seemed that there were a lot of people waiting for the guide and it would have been hard to follow. It was much better to be able to go at your own pace and to be able to examine each portrait.

It was actually pretty good, - seeing those paintings that are 500 years old! wow!

I agree Ray. I was impressed. I felt I shared a long lost secret that at one time only royalty was permitted to view. In other words, it was a privilege and a honor to me to experience them. Glad I went. Most likely a once in a life time experience for me.

I enjoyed looking at the wonderful works of art. The guide did not turn up but then I able to take my time and study the paintings that intrigued me the most, especially the Monet. Some of us went for coffee after and the was enjoyable as well.

The Monet was beautiful, in soft blended colors. It gave off a feeling of soothing joy to me. Good choice, Shirley.

I just came home this morning to a sick dog so I need to stay home with her. Sad to miss this one - I was looking forward to it

If you get a chance, go see it on your own. It is enjoyable, but parking is expensive, so I recommend the bus.

I enjoyed this outing and yes you can spend hours in looking at the paintings if you like this sort of thing. Our tour guide didn't show up for work and so a big crowd of people that came for the personal tour had to use the recorded devices. I enjoyed looking up close and from a distance at the variety of art work there. I saw a Picasso, Monet and many others. Such talent and skill. Very interesting, although the $9 I paid for parking at The Bay was kind of a let down. Overall, a great day for me. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

    The show is awesome!!
I am so tempted to go again, but will pass. I could have stayed there longer. We were there 2 1/2 hrs. Make sure you get the speakers that tell all about each painting and sculpture.
