Mostly British Film Festival – Opening Night

Opening Night Party + Movie Screening + Q&A with actor Bill Nighy.

The annual Mostly British Film Festival brings to San Francisco the best in cinema from the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, India and South Africa. This year's festival runs from February 16 to 23. Check out the full program at mostlybritish.org

The Opening Night movie, the comedy "Their Finest" starring Gemma Arterton and Bill Nighy, is the story of the British film industry during the war, charged with buoying the spirits of people living in fear of the Blitz. Director Lone Scherfig (“An Education,” “Italian for Beginners”) brings her special light touch.

Screening is at 7:30pm at the Vogue Theatre. The renowned British actor Bill Nighy will be interviewed following the screening.

Join other Friends of Europe for food and drinks at the Opening Night party starting at 5:00pm at the nearby Jewish Community Center (JCC). (Directions on how we shall find each other will be sent to attendees closer to the event.)

More information and tickets at mostlybritish.org/films/their-finestSelect “OPEN MEM NIGHT” to get the BAFOE members discount price of $25. The ticket price covers both the party and the movie.

NOTE: Your Meetup RSVP does not get you into the event. You must buy a ticket via the mostlybritish.org website. The opening night usually sells out so buy your ticket soon if you wish to attend.

Hello. I purchased a ticket online in January. The charge shows on my credit card statement, but I never received a receipt or ticket from the Vogue. Don't live in SF so can't go to the Vogue theatre to resolve this. Any ideas? If anyone received their ticket through an email confirmation, could you tell me what company address is on the email? Thanks !

For mine it was from [masked]

If your transaction went through, according to the MostlyBritish website, "You can also bring the credit card that you used to make the purchase and we can swipe it to locate the transaction. "

  • Patti

Hi..Did anyone use the mostlybritish.org site and try to use their credit card? i did twice but i never got a receipt email? I hope they have a ticket for me for opening nite.. I think it said you pay at the door with your credit card?? I am still confused???

    February 6

    • Geoff

You should have received an email receipt which is your ticket. I would check your spam folder to see if it's there. If you did not receive the email then your credit card may not have gone through. Geoff

      February 6

    • Geoff

But check your credit card statement to see if the transaction went through. According to the MostlyBritish website, "You can also bring the credit card that you used to make the purchase and we can swipe it to locate the transaction. " Otherwise you do need to show the email receipt.

The subject line for the email receipt is "Internet Ticketing Purchase - Vogue Theatre".

  • Marie

If anyone finds that they won't be using their ticket for opening night movie and party (Feb 16), please let me know. I will buy it from you! [masked] -- thanks, Marie

Got a ticket but the credit card experience of the site is awful. Not a secure site for credit cards—ugh.

    • sylvie

Thanks for making that comment! Come to think of it, although it worked, I too had a strange experience, and instead of getting a confirmation on the site, was immediately logged out. Geoff, perhaps something to mention to the organizers.

      January 17

    • Geoff

The organizer understands the concerns but says the same system has been used for the previous nine years of the festival and no-one has reported a security breach. They are however looking into changing it for next year. An alternative is to buy the tickets in person at the Vogue box-office. Call (415)[masked] for hours.
