TOM’S THUMB TRAIL Dayhike - McDowell Sonoran Preserve
('Not attending' RSVP's are unnecessary)
Sat, April 6
Leader: Denise Osborne ( firstname.lastname@example.org )
Length: 3 miles R/T
MEET at the Tom's thumb trailhead @ 7:45 AM sharp!
Elev Change: 1,363’
I hiked this one in January and fell in love with it. From the trailhead we are beginning at, it has a really nice smooth trail that would be great for running, just gentle ups and downs, if anything. The trail signs are easy to follow. Once the climbing starts it is pretty steady. Most of the elevation change is in one area, although there is a little more as you make your way towards the namesake Tom’s Thumb granite prominence. We may even see rock climbers doing a climb at the Thumb. This hike gives you great views of the Scottsdale area and, if we want to enhance our workout, there are other trails in the area.
Large parking lot and no park fees!
If you are not current on your $15 annual friends Hiking Club membership the hike is $5.00.
Bring ca$h for optional after-hike replentishment at a local watering hole.
Note: "not attending" RSVP's are unnecessary.
