Aylor's Arch

  • Nov 16, 2013 · 7:45 AM

AYLOR’S ARCH Day Hike / Scramble - Superstitions Sat, Nov 16

Leader: Phil Newell ([masked])

Length: 10 miles R/T

Rating: Moderate +

MEET in south end of Home Depot parking lot, US 60 & Power Rd, 8:00 AM

Elev change: +1790’

We will be hiking off-trail for this adventure to Aylor’s Arch which sits atop of Palomino Mountain in the Superstitions. The first 3.5 miles will follow the Dutchman Trail, which is an easy trail, and then we go adventuring! As we hike (climb and scramble!) up the ravine we will pass old mine works, gain fantastic views of the superstitions and finally emerge at the top. Assuming no one has located the Lost Dutchman Treasure during the climb up, we will have spectacular views of Aylor’s Arch and also the option to get a close up view of the arch for those that are so inclined. We will return the way we came! As this hike is "Off the Beaten Path" long pants may be a good idea.

We will start the hike from First Water Trailhead for those that wish to go directly to the trail head. Be there @ 8:25.

Please RSVP with the hike leader via e-mail by Nov 15th for the hike.
