Parson's Spring Hike

  • Mar 29, 2014 · 6:45 AM

PARSONS TRAIL #144 - Cottonwood                                     Sat, Mar 29

Leader:  Kim Hemmersbach  ([masked])

Length:  8 miles

Phone: [masked]

Rating:  Easy

MEET in Denny's parking lot, SE corner of I-17 and Bell Road, 7:00 am

Elev Change:  Not much!

The Parsons Trail not only packs a punch throughout the entire trail, it also is continuously changing.  From the trailhead, the trail immediately heads down the canyon wall 180 feet to the creek bottom.  Little elevation change is encountered after the initial drop.  At 1.1 miles in there is a spring, Summer's spring, next to the trail.  Ledges with four foot deep crystal clear water line the path in sections.  Small caves line the canyon walls.  We will be crossing the creek several times and large cairns are there to guide us.  This is bound to be a great Spring hike.

Afterwards, we will enjoy a bite to eat at local Cottonwood restaurant.
