This hike is in Upper Oak Creek Canyon. This will be a shuttle hike from the top of Pumphouse Wash to the bridge over Oak Creek. We will begin our hike by skirting pools of cool creek water through a basalt-filled streambed. As we continue on, the canyon deepens, and we will be in the Coconino sandstone, surrounded by sheer cliffs and Maple and Fir trees. We will circumvent a 14' falls, or jump if you so choose; before reaching the junction with James Canyon. We may explore up this canyon for an indeterminate distance; seeing some nice narrows and falls before returning to Pumphouse for the remainder of its length to where it intersects Rt. 89A, where we have left our shuttle vehicle(s). As with other Oak Creek hikes, there may be some water crossings on this hike so plan on getting your feet wet. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
Plan on stopping for refreshments in Sedona.
Please RSVP BY PHONE by October 11th so the shuttles may be arranged.
