Every 2nd Saturday of the month, the Western Gate Chapter works on a section of the Florida Trail in Blackwater River State Forest or State Park. This event is open to all, whether a member of the Florida Trail Association or not. No experience is necessary. Bring lots of water, a snack, work gloves if you have them and a willing attitude. Tools will be provided. Sunscreen, bug spray, and hiking boots, shoes or other close-toed shoes are recommended. Come out to enjoy working in the beauty of the woods with other FTA members who are knowledgeable and would like to share the experience with you.
Regulars may meet Bud at the Blackwater Forestry shed at Munson by 8:00 am. Work will take place on the Juniper Creek section, starting at Red Rock Rd and working toward the Shelter. Replacing the shelter sign will be the major job. We will also lop and brush cut as necessary.
