Details

Beginner - Intermediate outdoor grass volleyball event, where people can learn to play a position (OH,S,MB,OP,L) and learn rotations for indoor play.

Players must be able to successfully bump, set, spike, and serve 60% of the time, relative to your position. I'm not expecting a middle blocker to pass as well as a libero, for example.

Positive attitude and being a good teammate is a priority.

Teams will be set up in a 5-1 rotation. Each team will have 1 setter, 1 middle blocker, 2 outside hitters, 1 opposite, and 1 libero. We will move through rotations 1-6, in order to learn and get comfortable with gameplay.

Setter - If you get a bad pass, call HELP or MINE urgently while the ball is still rising in the air. This will give either your teammate time to set the second ball, or will notify your teammate that you are running for the ball, depending on the call that was made.

When front row, you are responsible for hitting on & blocking the right side of the net, as well front row setting. You are allowed to attack & setter dump while front row.

When back row, you are responsible for back row setting & right side defense.

Outside Hitter - When front row, you are responsible for hitting on & blocking the left side of the net. The only time you won't hit on the left is in serve receive 1 & 4, where you will hit a 5 on the right side, then move over to the left side of the net.

When back row, you are responsible for middle back defense, which will play deep once set to an outside or opposite. You are allowed to run pipe as freely as possible.

Middle Blocker - You will be front row the entire game and are the team's main source of blocking. You will be running attacks in the middle, and you are welcome to run attacks on the right side when the opposite is back row in rotations 4-6.

You will have to serve in either rotation 3 or 6, but you will run up to the net to block.

If you are new to this position, any ball set over your head is either meant for the OH, or a bad set. Please do not take this ball, purely for safety reasons.

Opposite Hitter - When front row, you are responsible for hitting on & blocking the right side of the net. The only time you won't hit on the right is in serve receive 1, where you will hit a 4 on the right side, then move over to the right side of the net. When back row, you are responsible for right back defense, and you are welcome to hit D balls from the back row.

Libero - You will SOLELY be back row. You are responsible for second touch if the setter receives first touch, or if the ball is shanked. You will serve in either rotation 3 or 6, depending on when the MB serves.

Serving- Servers must call the score, then call "Service" or "Ball in" to signal a whistle being blown. The server will then have 8 seconds to serve after the call has been said

Passes and sets may not be as good as you like, you need to work with what you get.

EVENT HOST: Abide by rules set forth by the host. Host can and will remove you from this group if needed.

RSVP: You must be listed as "Going" on the RSVP list to play. If you signup for an event, but are then unable to attend, please be courteous and change your RSVP to "Not Going" so that someone on the Waitlist can attend.

WAITLIST: Joining the Waitlist does not guarantee you a spot to play. Players will be added to the "Going" list based on balance of players.

CANCELLATIONS: If you develop a pattern of RSVPing and then cancelling (for example, you cancel more often than you attend), you may automatically be moved to "Not Going" to allow other players, who want to play and show up consistently, a spot to play.

LATE CANCELLATIONS: Late Cancellations will be marked as a "No Show!"

Event Hosts assume no liability; participate at your own risk. You, and no one else, are 100% responsible for your safety at all times.
