Dear meetup members,
On Wednesday the 31st of July we'll be visiting the new offices of Marbles. We have two speakers confirmed. Maarten Mulders will be giving a talk about building a DSL with GraalVM and Martijn Cuppens will talk about the Bootstraps font resizing engine RFS.
We hope to see you soon,
Dries & Rias
PS: Please remember to change your RSVP if you cannot attend.
Building a DSL with GraalVM by Maarten Mulders
In this session we’ll discover what it takes to run another language in GraalVM. Using GraalVM, we don’t only get a fast runtime, but we’ll also get great tool support. With Brainfuck as an example, we’ll see how we can run guest languages inside Java applications. It might not bring us profit, but at least it will bring some fun.
Speaker: Passionate architect, senior developer and trainer. Passionate about "building the right thing" and "building the thing right". Focusing on lean and elegant solutions. Love to share new ideas and knowledge. Outside work, I appreciate creating and consuming good food, photography, and music, in no particular order.
Meet Bootstraps font resizing engine RFS by Martijn Cuppens
RFS (simply the abbreviation of Responsive Font Sizes) is an engine that automatically calculates and updates the font-size property on elements based on the dimensions of the browser viewport. Get to know why it is so powerful and how the project grew from a tiny idea to a project integrated in Bootstrap.
In this talk you'll also get to know how linting, git hooks, automated testing, continuous integration and the release cycles are handled in the project, so be prepared for a technical dive into the world of open source contributing anno 2019.
Speaker: Martijn is a developer at Intracto who lives in a small town, Heusden-Zolder, in the idyllic province of Limburg. Since october last year he became part of the Bootstrap team where he's responsible of maintaining and extending its CSS architecture.
