Robert and I recently had the pleasure of getting "up close and personal" with Bard Reservoir, thanks to a private tour from Fun in the Sunner, Kristine:

The Return of TRIVIA TREATS. Yes! We'll take a break, wait for hikers to catch up, and play our Trivia Treats game for edible prizes. Feel free to bring a trivia question to throw in the pot. Prizes could be full of sugar, gluten, dairy, nuts. Not suitable for allergy challenged.
Meeting Place: Thousand Oaks Lang Ranch area (http://www.cosf.org/website/html/lang-ranch-map.html) --will be emailed to participants.
Time: Arrive EARLIER and be ready to leave promptly at 5:30PM. If you get there at 5:31PM, we'll be gone.
Estimated Stats: 6.7 miles/1,200'.
Terrain: Single track, fireroad, there could be a section of very brushy trails.
What's on the trail? Ticks, foxtails, snakes, thistle.
Level: Moderate, if you're used to the stats. You should be able to hike at a brisk pace. We'll stop for photos, wildlife, views.
Bring: Snack, water, first aid kit, trekking poles if you like using them. We should return before twilight ends, but you should always carry a headlamp. Optional: camera.
Wear: lug soles. Long pants/sleeves recommended for brush.
Dogs: Well behaved leashed dogs welcome. Open Space Rules (http://www.cosf.org/website/html/os-rules.html) : Dogs must be restrained by a leash not exceeding six feet in length, and must be under control at all times.
Hike location will be changed to Newbury Park or Camarillo if temps are forecast above 80 degrees.
No guests or "plus ones" please. For liability reasons we must have everyone join the group, and agree to the standard Meetup "Terms of Service", especially section 6.2, here (http://www.meetup.com/terms/).
