Are you willing to take a turn hosting a Women's Workout Hike? You don't need to attend regularly. Come along once in a while if you like. As long as you agree to host about 6 hikes a year, you can join this hike.
Be prepared on sign up to say what days you can host--Thurs in September, Weds in October. We'll have maps if necessary, and hosts may choose the route and get help with map reading. Or leave it to others to choose. We have plenty ideas where to go! Hosts don’t need experience, nor do they need to know the trails. There’s no chance of getting lost because there's always someone who knows the area. Fed up with the same old/same old trails? Then this is the perfect opportunity if you'd like to explore and find new loop or "out and back" hikes. We always like to take the road less traveled, and our emphasis is on taking the route we know the least. Trailblazing? Exploratory? Bushwacking? Type of Hike? Terrain? Leader's choice, anything possible, won't know until we get there. Be prepared for anything
Since it's so hot inland, we're headed to the coastline to walk along the beach and the surrounding areas. Today our hike will be in Ventura.
Please, no guests. You must be signed up at Fun in the Sun Club Meetup, thereby agreeing to Meetup's Release of Liability (http://www.meetup.com/terms/). Don't show up without signing up here first. Thank you.
Start Time: Arrive EARLIER. It's a good idea to be there at 7:45AM so if you get lost or there's traffic, you'll still be on time. We'll leave when everyone arrives and wait until 8:00AM at the latest. If you're lacing up your boots at 8:00AM, we'll be gone.
Meeting Place in Ventura: Will be sent to participants by day before hike.
Estimated Stats: 8-12 miles, under 400'. We usually finish before 12:30PM.
Pace: We can keep a 3.0 mph moving average, and 2.5mph+ overall average--sometimes considered a brisk, but it's all relative. Participants stay behind the leader and group stays together. No one is left behind.
For this walk, it's okay if some walk at a moderate pace. Speedier hikers can go all the way to the end of the pier while others catch up.
Bring: Snacks/lunch ( we take VERY short breaks), plenty water, first aid kit, trekking poles if you like using them.
Wear: Layers, hat, shoes that are comfortable for beach, boardwalk and sidewalk. You may want to go barefoot on beach.
Dogs: Sorry, no dogs for this one. Some areas don't allow them.
Leave nothing of value in your vehicle at any trailhead.
