Meetup Fees FAQs

Q. Why do we charge for events?
A. We have our own expenses and for the value of our time we put in a $5 membership one time is very less. Less than the fees of any parking lot in Downtown Denver. Our time and effort goes into planning coordinating with big Businesses, restaurants, bars, event managers. We provide free movie tickets once in a while. Handling complaints with over 8500 members in groups combined strength.The cost of reserving restaurant bookings, markers, name tags, going to events like movies/restaurants, gas/parking expenses, trash bags from outdoor events all cost us money.

More importantly we run the risk of law suits/fines/tickets from a large group. People leave without paying bills. also charges fees yearly

You can always pay only $1 per event if you dont want to pay the membership fees. You will recover that in just 5 events. We have atleast 2 or more events a week.

Q. How can I pay?
A. Paying online through Paypal helps us track the amount but cash is better since both meetup and paypal charge fees from us. We receive only 67 cents for each dollar you pay online.

Q. I paid but my membership doesnot show up.
A. Please send an email from your meetup account to the organizer directly, mention the date of payment, the mode of payment (cash/check/credit card/online) and the amount.

Q. I paid for an event but I am not going now, can I get a refund?
A. Only if the meetup date/time has changed, someone in your family is sick/passed away and other emergency situations except the events where there is a booking amount required for us to reserve a spot like Camping.

Q. Do you take Credit Cards?
A. We do take Credit Cards but we havent started processing it yet as of 3/12/2014. If you want to pay by credit card, please send us the following information to the Organizer by email:-
1. Name on the Credit Card
2. Billing Address & Zip code
3. 16 Digit Credit Card Number
4. Expiry Date
5. CVV (on the back of the card)
6. Amount to be charged
7. Reason (Example - Meetup Fee, Event fee)

Q. I was removed from the group, can I get my membership back?
A. If you have been a member for 6 or more months No. If you were removed because of harassment - No. If you have ever attended an event - No.

If you have never attended any events or RSVPd for any then you will get your refund within 6 months from the date of the Payment.

Q. Do I need to pay if I have no job?
A. If you have no job or a student you dont have to pay. We donot encourage you to not have a job. You can come to events but we want to hear from you the reason each time why you cant pay, you will always attend our events as a non member.
