Private Introductory Climbing/Bouldering Lesson

Ever wanted to try climbing or try a new type of climbing?

This isn't regular climbing. There are no ropes, and no walls more than 4 metres high. But the challenging routes to the top make this a great experience for children, beginners and veteran climbers alike.

As much a mental as a physical challenge you must plot your route carefully...

Bouldering means climbing free – without ropes, harnesses or reluctant partners.  Bouldering isn’t about climbing really far or very high – the highest you will go indoors is around 4 metres high. It is about having fun, finding challenges that appeal to you, and also having to work hard sometimes.

 This meetup includes:

• 1 hour group introductory lesson and practice

• Access to the climbing centre for the rest of the day so you can stay and climb for as long as you like after the lesson

All equipment hire (climbing shoes and chalk)

• Locker access for valuables, coats and bags

Total price is: £17.50

Deposit to pay is: £5

To pay on the day: £12.50

Any questions or for more information please refer to or ask below.

PS Here are some FAQs from their website...

• What... no ropes?!

While you are climbing, there are thick padded mats underneath you. These are there to protect you if you fall.

• I can’t do a single pull up to save my life. Am I fit enough?

Yes! Bouldering is not about keeping up with a group, but about getting in touch with your own body and its abilities. As long as you can walk up and down stairs and don’t have any medical problems you will be just fine.

• Is bouldering a good workout?

Bouldering is an incredible workout! Climbing is the original natural workout for a strong and flexible human body. Of course it works your hands, arms, shoulders and back like no other sport, but what is less known is that it works your core muscles and your lower body just as much. Expect to feel a little bit sore after your first sessions, and remember to keep drinking water!

• What do I need to bring?

Just bring loose, or stretchy, comfortable clothing and a jumper for when you are taking a break or waiting before your lesson starts.

• Where exactly is it?

Check this map, it's about 3-5 mins walk south of Bermondsey Tube Station (Jubilee line):

PPS Aside from the obvious walls the climbing centre facilities are:

• Changing rooms

• Toilets and showers

• Water fountain

• Stretching area

• Large lounge area for relaxing before between and after climbs.

• Small café

Really looking forward to this! Never done it before. My mum tells me that all I did as kid was climb up the outside of the banisters in the house. So I should be okay???

Hahahaha well the grips are a little smaller but yes I'm sure it'll be great fun, I went for my first and only time a month or so ago and really enjoyed it! See you on Saturday

I'd love to give this a go but I can't make the 5th. Benjamin I hope you arrange this again later in the year.

Hi Pargat, not sure if I'll arrange exactly the same again, but if not, probably something similar later in the year. I hope to see you then or sooner :)
