Our Organizer Team works hard to bring you the best FREE events each day! This email will also show up on our Message Board page so if anyone wants to comment or take the lead on coordinating a group meeting at any of these events that we cannot personally host, feel free to do so! This group is about community, so caring is sharing on days we cannot host an event personally.

TOP EVENTS FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 12TH

7:00am–1:00pm     City Summer Streets 2017 Free

On Saturday August 5, 12, and 19 nearly seven miles of New York City's streets will be opened up for everyone to play, run, walk and bike.

10:30am-4:00pm     Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival Free

This 27th annual fair features teams of rowers racing dragon emblazoned boats for. During the multiple heat competition, enjoy performances by Shaolin monks and the CASYM Steel Orchestra, and indulge in bites like dumplings, bao bun, and zongzi-stuffed rice leaves.

4:00pm–6:00pm     Bargemusic Neighborhood Family Concerts: Music in Motion Free

Bargemusic is New York City's floating concert hall, moored in Brooklyn just under the Brooklyn Bridge. On Saturdays at 4:00 p.m., visit Bargemusic for a free one hour performance, including a question & answer session with the musicians.

4:00pm-7:00pm     Arbonne Health Fair at Athleta Free

5:30pm     All Nude, All Male Shakespeare Free

After making headlines with last summer’s celebration of the nude female form, Torn Out Theater will turn its eye to the fraught, complex world of male body image. Our bold new production of Hamlet will ask tough questions about how the male body is perceived in America today.

6:00pm-11:00pm     Immersive Art Exhibit $8-$17

Immerse: Art Exhibit is redefining the artistic experience! This a public event that will catapult you to an immersive experience of Visual and Performing Arts all in one night. The art work will feature contemporary art by local artists in the NYC area, as well as live performances, which will consist of acoustic musicians/ singers, poets, a live D.J., and contemporary dance movement installation, which will occur throughout the night.

7:00pm-9:00pm     Battery Dance Festival Free

Established by Battery Dance in 1982 as the Downtown Dance Festival, today the Battery Dance Festival (BDF) is New York City’s longest-running free public dance festival. Audiences are traditionally drawn from the large downtown working population and residents, families, tourists, senior citizens and dance fans from the greater NYC metropolitan area. Each year, the Festival draws a combined audience of over 12,000 people.

Ryan Chernin and Ev - Folk focused, with a contemporary indie rock core inspired by the sounds of the 60s and 70s, singer/songwriter Ryan Chernin presents a collection of songs from his debut album, “You Know Who You Are.”
