I think emailing this around is kind of counter productive. It spams peoples emails.

Re: [furries-290] Apology for Being Overly Harsh on Kayfox

Hello,

I think people are missing the point, Alex/coyo was kicked from the channel because of what he did right before he was kicked.  None of what he had said previously had any bearing on why he was kicked, it would have gone unnoticed if he had not been antagonizing people at the end there.  And he did apologize.  I do also realize that I will be attacked based on the real or perceived viewpoint I have or actions I have taken.  I also accept that some people will make attempts to convey their dissatisfaction with this issue outside this list and the IRC channel, and I welcome their input into the process.

I want to walk briefly on how we got to this point in the IRC channel, previously the channel was vibrant and had discussions of many things.  But over time it became a nonstop stream of the latest meme on 4chan, and intelligent discussion was drowned out in the mess of noise.  At some point along the way it was decided by the collected mass that disagreeing with someone is offensive and everyone must agree to get along.  As things moved along this attitude lead to alot of intelligent discussion moving elsewhere, because obviously I'm being an asshole if I'm telling you that you are wrong.  After a while the factions polarized and now people are calling for my removal and banning because certain people are are not banned, notwithstanding the fact that those people do not deserve a ban.

And this is IRC, words on the screen that scroll by and are forgotten within hours.

Everyone is welcome in the IRC channel, but like any public space there are limitations to what conduct is permitted and we intend to nudge people towards keeping in those limits.  People are also allowed to speak their mind when they disagree with your views or conduct, and in order to participate you must accept that.

So the info is thus:
Server: irc.furnet.org
Channel: #seattlefurs

Remember, you are what you bring to the community and we will judge you by your actions and legacy.

Govern yourself accordingly.

Cheers,
Kyle Fox
