Microsoft :: 1290 Avenue of the Americas, 6th floor
It’s no secret that story sells games: Bioware, Square Enix, and Naughty Dog, to name only a few, have made millions off of integrating stories into their gameplay. Even iOS titles like The Walking Dead, Sword and Sworcery, and Year Walk are making outrageous profits from good storytelling, but how is it done? Specifically, how can we use our characters to generate the word of mouth we need?
Join us as David Kuelz, Lead Writer at Awkward Pegasus Studios, explains how to design characters especially for video games. Points of discussion include:
- How do my characters translate into profits?
- What makes people tell their friends about my characters?
- What are the differences between characters in games and other media?
- How do I develop my character without relying on the gamer’s natural enemy: words?
David Kuelz, Lead Writer of Awkward Pegasus Studios, has already given a Deep Dive here at the NYC Games forum, but is very excited to give another! David started his storytelling career as an actor: back in 2011, David worked as the understudy for “Peter” in the New York Philharmonic’s production of Company, but a year later in 2012 David switched focus and formed Awkward Pegasus Studios to begin his work as a freelance narrative designer/writer. Since then he has published the studio’s first title, “After” and produced/assistant directed “The Program”, a science fiction film by Reinventing films. He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from PACE University here in NYC.
Don't pass up this chance to meet a seasoned industry vet in a small, intimate environment.
Seats are limited. Tickets are $20 but will go to $30 week of the event.
