May 1 Meeting: Designers, Machine Learning/Data Scientists, Web Dev to join Bias in Machine Learning Team

Hi everyone,

We are looking for a few people, designers and ML/data scientists to join a volunteer team working on machine learning bias. We are also building a small website.

We are emailing you because we are reorganizing and rebranding GDG Boston using the underlying 501 (c) 3 non-profit to focus on educational events that will illuminate the technology issues just beyond our headlights; that are immediately important and professionally relevant learning to the community and employers..

Our next by invitation meeting is on May 1st 7:00 - 8:30 PM.

We are working in a small team to create an interdisciplinary learning experience about building machine learning models, testing for bias and remediating the bias. Bias is not only a technology issue. Bias extends into design, data science, product management, compliance, and ethics. Bias is not a specialist issue, it is a team and organizational issue. Hence, effective and memorable learning content will be designed for teams.

We are in the dogfooding stage. We are an interdisciplinary team, solving the machine learning bias issue for ourselves. Next we will run this learning experience with a half-dozen teams, and then scale it to reach 1,000 people in the following year. The content will be free and openly licensed.

We are looking for a few more people, designers experienced with system and product design, and machine learning/data scientists that are currently building and or using machine learning. If you are interested please complete one of these forms. If you want to help create a topical website, please complete either form.
