Larkin's on the River is said to be one of the best restaurants in Greenville and they have the awards to prove it! Larkin's is located along side the Reedy River in what used to be the old Gower Coach Factory. The building dates back to the civil war and is warm and rustic with exposed brick and open ceilings. They are famous for their premium cut steaks, fresh seafood, fine wines, and outstanding service. Here is what they have to say about themselves:

Executive Director of Cuisine Alex Castro Executive Chef Robert Simms CHEF ALEX: Larkin’s on the River was established in October of 2005 and since that time, Larkin’s culinary inspirations have been created by none other than, Executive Director of Cuisine Alex Castro – known to our associates and guests as “Chef Alex.” He has taken what was once and old school steakhouse and evolved it into one of the most stunning and sensational restaurants in all of South Carolina.
Chef Alex has been a cornerstone in establishing Larkin’s reputation with local and international celebrities. He has prepared meals for sports celebrities: Bob Costas, Boston Red Sox hall of famer Jim Rice, movie stars: George Clooney, Renée Zellweger, Kevin Costner, Food Network Chef Tyler Florence as well as Martha Stewart in November of 2010.
Chef Alex not only oversees the menu at Larkin’s but also the catering for executives in their home as well as lavish events for large groups such as American Red Cross, BMW, GE, Michelin and many more international organizations and companies.
Chef Alex has a keen sense for flavors, colors and composition. His creations have entertained diners in Greenville for the past nineteen years and his ability to present a flavorful, beautiful and captivating plate every time, is what makes Chef Alex an accomplished culinary professional.
CHEF ROBERT Executive Chef Robert Simms joined Larkin’s Restaurants in May of 2012. As the Larkin’s brand grew we realized that there was so much to do with the addition of our Larkin’s Sawmill Property, growth in the North Carolina locations and the addition of our newest concept “GRILL MARKS” in downtown Greenville we needed another talented culinarian in our kitchen.
Chef Robert got his true start in New Orleans working as the executive chef at the world famous Napoleon House. Robert served several meals a day in their casual outlet, as well as dignitaries and celebrities in their fine dining outlet. After Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on New Orleans, Chef Robert and his wife and children decided to move north. Settling in South Carolina, he took a position with PF Changs as the culinary partner for their new store in Greenville. He ran that location for five years until we seeked him out to assist Larkin’s grow for the future.
