  • Phuc Yea Hosts Slow Food Miami's Snail Social Roaming Happy Hour
Phuc Yea Hosts Snail Social Roaming Happy Hour Slow Food Miami presents its “Snail Social” roaming Happy Hour event on Wednesday, November 14 from 6PM to 8PM hosted by Miami power duo Chef/Owner Cesar Zapata and General Manager/Owner Ani Meinhold of Phuc Yea at 7100 Biscayne Boulevard. Located in Biscayne’s blossoming MiMo district, Phuc Yea is inspired by Aniece Meinhold’s Vietnamese heritage and Cesar Zapata’s Third Coast culinary roots. The menu offers a selection of shareable plates that capture the soulfulness and passion behind family rooted recipes. The eclectic international eatery invites guests to embrace ‘90s hip-hop, street-cool music and enjoy Chef Cesar’s take on Viet-Cajun cuisine. Guests will enjoy a complimentary welcome cocktail along with passed bites from 6PM to 7PM and Happy Hour priced cocktails until 8PM. This event is open to the public; $15 suggested donation. Tickets can be purchased here. Snail Social attendees can enjoy the Happy Hour menu from 6PM to 8PM. Student and teacher sponsored tickets are available – those interested can send a message to Slow Food Miami on Facebook or Instagram. In previous years, Snail Socials were free to attend. However, Hurricane Irma was the major catalyst that spurred Slow Food Miami to turn these monthly gatherings into fundraisers that would connect the community with the obstacles that farmers face, and to support the local farms most in need. All funds raised through Fall 2017 have been distributed amongst several South Florida farms that were hard hit by Irma’s destructive winds. Moving into 2018, Slow Food continues to support farms where they need it most. The suggested minimum donation of $15 per person directly impacts local farms’ operations and help keep good, clean fair food on South Florida tables. There will be a Snail Social hosted by different Snail of Approval chefs and restaurants throughout Miami on the second Tuesday of every month. Other participating chefs and restaurants will be announced throughout the season via Slow Food Miami’s mailing list and social media tagged with #snailsocial. Follow Slow Food Miami on Instagram and Facebook to stay current. Phuc Yea is located at 7100 Biscayne Boulevard. Telephone: (305)[masked]; www.phucyea.com About Snail of Approval The Slow Food Miami Snail of Approval Award is not unlike the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval in that it helps guide South Floridians and visitors to food that is good, clean and fair by identifying and honoring those producers, purveyors and artisans who contribute to the quality, authenticity and sustainability of the food we eat and the beverages we drink in Miami. Quality is fundamental – food must taste good and be good for us. Quality includes: the freshness and wholesomeness of ingredients. Authenticity means that the food is true to its source, from local growers and producers. Sustainability means that we must pay attention to the consequences of how we produce and distribute food. Nominations are based on known restaurants and chefs who actively source local produce and ingredients within our farming community. Nominations are then reviewed by the Slow Food Miami Snail of Approval Committee, who also conduct on-site visits and follow up calls to farmers. About Slow Food Miami Slow Food Miami is the local chapter of Slow Food USA, a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting good, clean and fair food for all. We support our local community from the ground up – from the Edible School & Community Gardens we plant to encourage the enjoyment of food that is local, seasonal and sustainably grown; to the local growers and artisan food makers we support for their use of sustainable methods. Through culinary, educational events and fundraising we support our Edible School & Community Garden Program, and aim to also raise awareness of good, clean and fair food as a cornerstone of pleasure, culture & community.
