What was your religious upbringing? We know you're an atheist now... But before you thought for yourself, what religion failed at brainwashing you?

We were basically Hanukkah Jews. My Dad had read Thomas Paine when he was young, and was a nonbeliever--so I was spared the religious indoctrination. Congratulations to those that had to figure it our for yourselves. Many never reach the age when they are old enough to think for themselves! Of course being smart enough to figure out there isn't a tooth fairy doesn't make us mental giants! Evidence, reason, justice, compassion and the Scientific Method make wonderful guides for us fallible humans.
