Imagine the pic w/out the snow! ;-)
Description: A Moderate hike to Talaya Hill includes a small loop, then back out from the main trail. This is not Atalaya Mtn. It is on the -way- to Picheco Pk. Starting at 11am to avoid morning cool temps.
Round Trip Hiking Distance: about 2.5 miles
Round Trip Hiking Time: 2.5 +- hours
Elevations: Low: 7315' to High: 7890'
Cumulative Gain: 550ft. +-
Rating: forest trail.
Pace: Mellow
What to bring:
Sturdy hiking boots or shoes.
Bring layers, extra clothing, and water resistant outer wear.
Water for a 2+ hour hike, (a liter +).
Lunch or snacks (in case we/you get hungry or stuck, etc.)
Dogs: There is often a bit of traffic on this trail. Dogs may complicate it.
----> How to find us:
1. The trailhead is near the corner of Cerro Gordo and Upper Canyon roads. Parking entrance is on Cerro Gordo very close to the intersection. If lot is full, parking is usually ok on Cerro Gordo
