San Luis Rey River Trail Bike n' Cache - Part Deux (again!)

Only got through 1/2 of the caches on this trail on Sept 12th so I need to hit the other half, from the East side this time. I was sick last time I scheduled this so I am all better now and ready to cache! Please, if you RSVP, plan to show up.... I am limiting this ride to 8 people, including myself. If you RSVP yes then plan to attend because you are taking up the spots for other people who are seriously going to attend! We will start at the Blind Cache #4 at GC287BH which is near the Cingular Store at 8:00 AM sharp. Park in the Mission Market Place Shopping Center (usually this is not a problem to do this but if you see signs for "Patrons Only" find a different place to park as I don't want anyone getting towed!). This ride will be relatively easy. I suggest no one under 12 attend. If you bring a child then you are responsible to know their capabilities. This ride will be approximately 12 miles and will take about 4 hours.

I have an excellent map to send you. If you RSVP with your email address I will send it. If you have any questions please contact me! Regards,

My son and I joined this group for the first time. It was a very nice day for a bicycle riding. It was an easy ride with a paved trail with very flat terrain as it followed the river bed. Also we stopped about very tenth of a mile or so to look for each cache. The group leader was friendly and knowledgeable and we learned some valuable tips about Geo Caching. We managed to find most of the caches we were looking for. I believe there were only two that we DNF and over twenty that we did, a personal best for us. Our group was small with only four of us the outing had room for four more who missed out on a great bicycle Geo Caching outing. We very much look forward to Andy's next trip hope to see you there perhaps. Frank & Daniel

Gay, There are NO MAJOR hills that I know of on this trail. It is a paved trail. People use it to walk on, ride on, etc. On the west side I saw people using strollers.... Hope that sways you to join us, it will be fun! Regards, Andy

Gee Thanks for this information it looks as if it would be a fun event...but HONESTLY are there MASSIVE hills to Bike on? Oh good grief I will sound all wimpy to you..but I have been long as the hills are is FINE with me...!!

Hi Gay! The trail is paved. Some caches are down a hill or up ahill so DON'T wear biking shoes (the ones with the cleats for your pedals). They are located no more than 50-60 feet from the path and we trot down/up to get them. This is one of the easier cache runs you can go on with me actually.... Most are painful hikes through swamps and jungles!!!! Please feel free to ask other questions! Regards, Andy

Is this a MOUNTAIN bike ride...? Or along streets or paved paths...that makes a LOT of difference..and so far the only Casche hunts I have been on with Rod Swank were in on the sides of very speep dirt hills which were fun for hiking..but NOT biking...Hope to hear on this...Thanks..
