You can use it to list recent posts in a specific category, most popular content, and upcoming events. I'll walk you through its features and parameters. Even the most non-technical website editor can easily use this plugin. I'll also provide examples on how developers can customize its look and functionality. • Integrating 3rd Party APIs with WordPress

    Road Warrior Creative Offices

Whether you want to display locations on your website with a map powered by Google, list events from a Meetup page (like we do on our website https://www.wpgeorgetown.com!), or customize how a social media feed is displayed, an API will allow you to retrieve and use the data from elsewhere on the web within your WordPress website. This developer-focused meetup will show different examples of API integration within WordPress, including a deep dive into a non-public-facing (internal use) WordPress-powered portal that pulls data from Eventbrite's event and attendee APIs. Bring your computer - if there is interest, we will walk through the creation of a basic plugin that pulls in data from a public API. Developers, users and aspiring developers of all abilities are welcome to attend, however please note that this meetup assumes basic understanding of how to set up a local development environment, WordPress file structures and PHP.
