The German language Society invites us again to join them at the Swiss Embassy. This month the lecture will be given in German by Arnim von Friedeburg, the current Managing Partner, German Foods North America and former Managing Director, German Agricultural Marketing Board. Mr. von Friedeburg will give an illustrated lecture in German on “VOM ACKER ZUM ABENDBROT: EINE INDUSTRIE IM WANDEL” Mr. von Friedeburg will discuss changes underway in the food industry as it produces an enormous variety of foods to meet world demand.
His presentation will highlight the importance of the German food and agricultural industries in German culinary traditions.
Germany is the second largest food exporter by value in the world after the US.
Concerns include taste, freshness, and culinary appeal as well as organic sourcing, purity, and the role of genetically modified organisms. The presentation will be richly illustrated with images of food, and conclude with
complementary tastings of a variety of unique German and Swiss foods and beverages selected by the speaker. Refreshments will be provided. Please note that this event begins at 8:00 PM.
