August: The Sturgeon Moon
The sturgeon, a large fish common to the Great Lakes and other nearby bodies of water, is most easily caught during this month. The reddish appearance of the moon through the frequent sultry hazes of August also prompted a few tribes to dub it the Red Moon. Other names included the Green Corn Moon and the Grain Moon.

This is easy to find and no long walk. Right next to the river. So you can bring what ever you want and not worry about carrying it far. So bring your food, chairs, drinks or ? Let's bring some friends and family. . Last month we had a lot of food and drink and a great turn out( about 30 people). Please bring something if you can. I'll bring both tables. Remember, I always bring the hot dogs, buns & long forks for roasting; marshmallows, paper plates, forks, along with all the condiments. It is a very convenient location & easy to set up. Please RSVP, others want to know you'll be there.
