(VVS) SASSAFRAS UP AND DOWN

Starting at Laurel Valley on US 178 we will climb to the top of Sassafras Mountain, at 3554’ South Carolina’s highest point.
Meet at University Square at 8:30 am and car pool to the parking area along 178. Lunch at the top of Sassafras MT then retrace our way back down.

I'll be at the Publix University Square meet-up area about 8:15 and leave for the trail promptly at 8:30. We can consolidate vehicles at Publix and at Holly Springs also if that works for some of you. Likely be at Holly Springs a few minutes after 9 am. At the trailhead at 9:30. Please respond in this Meetup Event posting where you plan to meet. Bring plenty of water. Parking is limited at the site directly on 178 across from the trail start so we may have to work with the parking area at Laurel Valley TH up Horse Pasture Rd. Best to consolidate vehicles if possible.
