SWCP... Newquay to camp Blue Hills Touring park
Details
Day 5 of our Southwest Coastal path adventure.
A potential long day although bus journeys will be out bound only.
Starting at the campsite at 08.10 we walk to Trevellas, old Post office and catch service 87 at 08.40 to Newquay Windsor Court
Today's hike is challenging rated Moderate to Strenuous!
I estimate the walk to be about 15 to 17 miles ( it is 12.6 miles (20.2km) to Perranporth and we have a few miles to go beyond that.
As we head out of Newquay we cross the famous Fistral Beach. Our route crosses the Gannel river which we may be able to cross using the footbridge. Low tide 09.27 High tide 15.26. Otherwise, it's an even longer day as the walk riverside until we find a suitable crossing point and return on the other side.
We may if the tide is out cross the beach to Perranporth, otherwise it is a tiring slog though the sand dunes. After Perranporth we skirt coast side of Cornwall's airport before making our way back into camp.
Participants will need packed lunch and at least 2 litres of fluids, rain and wind proofs, good fitting boots, sun hat, sun glasses and lotion. Personal medication. Participants are responsible for their own health and well being and should be able to keep up and not forge ahead of the leader.
We walk at about 2mph / 4kmph.
