November Go hack night

*** Please note: the address of the meetup has changed since last time. The new location is in the Fairfax building adjacent to the old Google offices. Don't worry too much, if you can get to the Google offices, you're very close. ***

Yes, we're back for another hack night! The format is roughly the same as our previous July (gulp, has it really been that long?) meetup; bring your laptop, your enthusiasm, and your questions about Go.

For the main topic of the evening, Andrew Gerrand will be leading his Whispering Gophers codelab [1]. Please bring your laptop, power charger, etc. If you need help getting Go installed on the night there are many people who can help with that.

Additionally, if you've been using Go and want to show off your efforts, we'll be doing lightning talks throughout the evening. Get in touch with myself or Andrew before the event, or on the night, if you would like to present.

And as always, we'll do a wrapup in the last 30 minutes where anyone wants can demo their efforts during the night.

Excellent & Inspirational! Just the nudge I needed to get me cracking on my new Go powered project.

If you intend to attend tonight, please make sure you RSVP by 5pm. If your name isn't on the list, it will be hard to get you in the door. Thanks.

For those attending tomorrow night this is a reminder that the meetup is being held at the Fairfax building (next door to the Google building). As we'll be there after hours you have to check in with the security guard who will take your name and direct you up to Level 2. On Level 2 turn right at the reception desk and you're there.

Someone asked a question (that appears to have gone missing) about food. Google are generously sponsoring the catering during the event, and if your leave pass extends past 9pm we may retire to a nearby pub if numbers and enthusiasm warrant.

I guess I could do a lightning talk on my thesis: "Porting Go to seL4"

Thanks Andrew, I've put you down for the first lightning talk spot, come find me when you arrive.

Will this be friendly to new gophers? I think I pass the pre-reqs for the whispering gophers codelab (Done the tour, read the docs, set up tools on my laptop, etc.), but I'm pretty green with go.

Absolutely, a passing interest in programming in general is more than enough.

I would be interested in giving it a go and creating bindings for http://www.opendkim.org/libopendkim/ library on the night. I would certainly need a hand if anyone doesn't have a project in mind yet?
