How many of you knew that there are NATURAL Lakes in The OC? I'm not talking about a lake on the golf course, or the one with the fountain those damn kids keep pouring laundry detergent in at the condo complex down the street. I'm talking natural.
Anyways, We will go and check out these lakes and more on this hikes. Expect the hike to be just about 4 miles in duration. With the exception of what looks like one decent hill, this should be a relatively easy hike. I'm sure I will provide some boring and uninteresting little history facts along the way as usual.
Directions to trailhead: From the San Diego Freeway (405) in Irvine, exit onto the Laguna Freeway (133), which soon becomes Laguna Canyon Road. Drive south 6 miles to the signed entrance for James Dilley Preserve on the left (east) side of the road and park in the dirt lot. The preserve entrance is just north of San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor (toll road). ---DO NOT PARK AT THE NIX NATURE CENTER---Go up another mile and When you reach the stop light at the corridor make a U turn and the lot will be immediately on the right.
