Time to get back into Crystal Cove for some beautiful views on a Sunday morning.
We will be hiking down No Name Ridge, Crossing at Ticketron, and up Red Tail Ridge where we will make our way back to the parking area. This hike is roughly a 4 mile loop, with nice little uphill and downhill changes along the way to make it feel like you did something on a Sunday Morning. If we feel a little adventurous we may jump on to one of the short side trails to see what we find along the way.
Hike is at 8:30, and we step off at 8:40. As usual I apologize in advance for leaving you behind if you are not there at the step off time.
Please note parking is free along the streets at coastal peak park, and the map Meetup provides on their link is VERY accurate.
The backcountry and wilderness areas of Crystal Cove State Park offer you 17 miles of hiking trails through 2,400 acres of native wilderness mostly the endangered coastal sage scrub plant community. For energetic backpackers, there are three environmental campgrounds, one in a canyon and two at the higher elevations. The higher trails offer beautiful vistas of the mountainous backcountry, geological formations, and the blue Pacific Ocean. Exploring the lower trails offers hiking through riparian woodlands with oak and sycamore trees along the seasonal Moro Creek. Whether you explore the high trails or the low trails or both, you will find ample evidence of native plants and animals, and a sense of escaping from civilization into the beautiful solitude of natural history.
As it is getting warmer out there PLEASE make sure to bring water, sun protection, and also an energy snack if so desired.
Let's Get Out There, Orange County....we have a lot of exploring still to do.
