I have chartered a four cabin, four head, 2018 Beneteau Oceanis 48 from January 06, 2019 to January 20, 2019 for either a one or two week sailing adventure (week 2 is filled and week 1 has one available cabin-wait list is available). Each week begins with meeting on the boat at the marina on Sunday after 1:00 PM, begin sailing to a different island each day on Monday morning, returning to the marina the following Sunday morning by 9:00 AM. Take part in sailing the boat, learn how to sail with informal instruction from an American Sailing Association Certified Instructor with 40 years’ experience (no certification given), or just sit back and relax.
This vacation is more than just the fabulous sailing inside the Sir Francis Drake Channel and the more robust sailing outside the channel. We pick up a mooring ball or anchor each day early to mid-afternoon and spend the rest of the day snorkeling, swimming, walking the beach, lying in the sun on the beach or on the boat, hiking the islands, and relaxing with your favorite beverage. Of course there are a lot of conversations and making new friends. Enjoying the beauty of a different island each day is so much better than a beach side motel.
The cost is $1350/person/week, not including food, airfare, and transportation to or from the marina. The number of crew per week is limited to 6 plus the captain.
All boat expenses are included. Food for the week is approximately $120/person/week, which includes all breakfasts and lunches and two dinners eaten aboard. All other dinners are eaten at island restaurants. The number of dinners eaten aboard can be increased depending upon the crew’s desire.
I hold a USCG 100 Ton Master and OUPV Near Coastal License and have been sailing for 40 years. This will be my 12th year sailing in the British Virgin Islands. I keep going back because of the unparalleled beauty and the options for many other activities. It truly is a vacation to remember.
