What we're about

Ever wanted to experience gourmet cooking? How about trying out and learning new recipes, sharing ideas and learning from other would be chefs? Let's recreate gourmet dining experiences outside the confines of five star restaurants.

Note: This group is for people that already know how to cook. These meetups are not beginning cooking classes, but for experienced cooks to get together and enjoy each others cooking. If you don’t already have experience in cooking, please join another group. There are several on Meetup in San Diego.

This group is designed to get a group of people (10-25) together twice a month (depending on popularity, it could be more often) for a home made three course meal. Everyone involved should participate in cooking and cleaning.

We'll focus on both the menu and the presentation. Dining courses are going to be affordable depending on ingredients and number or courses. The idea is to avoid constant potluck scenarios (we will have a few occasional potlucks though to break up the monotonous). Menus will be cohesive and one person will be responsible for planning the menu...with the help from the organizers.

We want to make the experience similar to a 5 Star gourmet restaurant, but much more affordable, social, and interactive. All participants should bring notepads, cooking knives and cutting boards, plus other miscellaneous cooking gear requested by the cook of the day. The cook and the menu will be chosen by the organizers, and we'll also take care of shopping for ingredients. We'll try to host the events at homes of willing members and organizers throughout San Diego County.

To be a member of this group active participation and member photos are required; we plan to keep the events and membership exclusive, so commitment to attendance is important. In order to be approved for this group, please include a real photograph of yourself in the profile, as well as a brief description of cooking skills/style as well as the reason for joining the group.

In order to ensure good attendance and pay for the ingredients, members who RSVP but do not attend, do not show up, arrive late, or do not actively participate in both cooking and clean up, will be removed from the group.

Note: A majority of our dishes are seafood and meat dishes, but since many of our friends are vegetarian, we will plan a few vegetarian events as well.

Also this is NOT a networking group or a group to promote your business.

Note: A real photo of yourself is required to join this group.
