ANDREW MOLERA STATE PARK -- Gateway to the Big Sur Valley
Background of the park: (zt) 'Located on the site of a dairy ranch, Molera State Park is the largest park in Big Sur. The ridge that defines the western side of the Big Sur Valley begins to rise from the coastal plain within the park. West of the ridge are chaparral-covered coastal hills; east are the woods and grasslands of the Big Sur Valley.'
** The Ridge, Panorama, and Bluffs Loop (7.5 miles; 1300 feet)
Molera's most enjoyable hike, this loop climbs a ridge that offers outstanding views of the Big Sur Valley and the ocean, then drops through chaparral to the coastal bluffs and two small beaches.
Total hike milage: 7.5 miles. Elevation gain: 1300ft.
If time permits, we will visit Pfeiffer beach too. hike milage: 4 miles.
Please bring warm jacket, headlight / flashlight, sunblock, big lunch, 3 bottles of water.
