Hands On Cypher: Exploring the How I met your mother graph

  • Jun 2, 2015 · 6:30 PM
  • Neo Technology

Got a bit of experience with Cypher but want to improve your skills? You're in luck!

In this 3 hour session we'll take a How I met your mother dataset scraped from the HIMYM wiki and see what we can learn about Ted and his friends.

You will need to bring your laptop and preferably have Neo4j installed. If you need help getting it up and running we'll do that before the session starts.

Pre Requisites

You'll get the most from the session if you've previously attended an intro to graphs session or have an understanding of graphs and how they can be used.

We'll order pizza (or similar) to keep us going!

6.00 - 6.30: Refreshments,  networking and getting Neo4j installed.
6.30: Session starts

Please not you want the Europoint building and NOT the CBS one.

I'd just like to thank Mark for the effort he put into the data sets. It was very easy to get started on writing Cypher, and they provided a rich source of material for complex queries.

Great workshop yesterday, much appreciated. The HIMYM analysis was a good demonstration on how one can apply graph techniques to various domains to get answers. I'll certainly aim to look at cypher a little more before the next analysis session.

The previous hands-on I attended foundered on data import issues. Is the dataset available so we can ingest it before hand?

      Hi Andrew,

If you want to get a head start take a look here - http://gist.neo4j.org...

I've still got a few tweaks to make but we'll mostly be following this.

      Cheers
      Mark
